I thought you might all like a video about an interview with Seth Godin where he talks about what it takes to be an entrepreneur. More importantly the ART of being successful.

Recent discussions about globalization and the dissassembly line have sparked conversations about the American Dream and outsourcing of jobs to India and China.  The questions turn to those of, “Is it fair that other countries can produce cheaper?”  Has consumerism doomed the economy?  The answer is – if you don’t like your job, go find a better one!

In the video interview, Godin speaks to the point that we are all trained to be average.

We are trained to fit in.

People who follow the rules, do what they’re told, (average) – they are in big trouble.  If you can create a manual on how to do something, and then someone can do it for cheaper, you become obsolete. What do you do to stand out?

Godin explains that currently the market for AVERAGE freelancers is terrible. That being, if you are an average web designer, copywriter, telemarketer, etc, then you run the risk of someone undercutting you. You will have no work if you are average.

However, the market for exceptional freelancers is AWESOME!! If you have a passion, a spark, a dream, then follow it. Stop making excuses, or your job’s going to China, punk.

Here is a moment to say, “I’m not gonna fit in, I’m gonna stand out.”

Terrific post but I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this topic? I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Bless you!…
